After help from this forum I finally managed to get my Windows 2000 laptop
to see my TP280i as a modem and successfully connect to the internet.
I was pleasantly surprised to find out that - while connected - the phone
will still receive voice calls.
I thought that this was great until the person who rang me ended the call
because that also terminated my internet connection.
I know that by not answering voice calls whilst connected to the internet or
by diverting all voice calls to voicemail I can avoid this problem.
However, it wuld be great if I could receive voice calls during an internet
connection without having to reconnect everytime a voice call is ended - as
you can imagine downloading at 9.6k is abit time consuming so i would prefer
not to have to keep starting over
Any hints on how to make this work would be appreciated.

Re: TP280i - voice and internet
No can do. When you are connected to the net using CSD (Circuit Switched
DATA, I assume you are NOT Using GPRS because you say u r connecting at 9.6
bps) you are in essence in a phone call. What you want to do is place the
CSD call on hold, take the voice call and then switch back to the CSD call
when your voice call ends. First off it would be double airtime, not very
attractive. Second, you have no way to initialize the SEND command to the
phone while it is online in the CSD (Circuit Switched) Data mode. So in
short, aint gonna happen
