Hi All,
I have the Verizon AC family plan with 2 phones. I won an Ebay auction
for a Motorola V120E, and did an ESN swap yesterday and activated that phone on
my number. I have my 6 month old V120C now inactive. My daughter has a Nextel
that she got while working up in Albany NY after college. It costs her $86 per
month for basic service (CRAZY !!!). She sold the phone and the contract to
someone she knows who wants to pay the $86 per month (He must be crazy too), and
she wants to get on my family plan as a 3rd phone. She now lives back at home
and is going to school in NYC.
I called VZW today and asked what's involved to add a 3rd phone (that I
already have) to my plan. The girl told me that VZW cannot add the phone
themselves. I must go to a VZW dealer and only they can do it. Is this true ???
Will I have to pay an activation fee ??? How about any of you VZW dealers that
monitor this group--do you want to do it for me ???

It evidently is for that rep. Call *611 again and try with another
rep.
>Will I have to pay an activation fee ???
IIRC, it's yes for a one-year contract and no for a 2 year contract.
But you usually can only bargain things like that in a Verizon store.
You can always not confirm the order if you call and they won't waive
the fee, then you can try at your local store.

And the contract will likely apply to all phones on the plan.

Re: HOW DO I ADD A PHONE TO MY FAMILY PLAN ???
Ron,
The Motorola v.120e sells for FREE at most dealers now. Hopefully you
didn't pay very much for it. As far as activating it, I doubt you'll find
a dealer who will bother with activating a handset you didn't buy from
them. I know I won't. Even if it's free for you there are kickbacks tied
to the sale of a handset.
Now, go down to RadioShack or Verizon or wherever is convenient for you,
grab the free v.120e (or the $10 v.120e or whatever price they want to
charge you), get it activated, and you'll pay no activation fee on a
2-year contract.
Go for the new phone rather than the one you bought on eBay. You'll have a
warranty, and you'll know the phone is "clean".

Seriously? It makes my day when someone comes in to activate service with
me and they have their own phones. Means we don't lose money on the
handsets, so more money in our pocket.

No, there is a place to CHANGE the ESN, not ADD a phone.
