So that would shoot your service issue all to crap- Nextel doesn't charge
because it is cheaper to run on their network then VZ PushToWait.

I was talking about Verizon. I wouldn't consider Nextel. Their cell
phone service stinks. I don't even like calling Nextel users, because
of the way the phone rings, the idiotic "I'm looking for the Nextel
customer" message, and the call usually drops or the person is hard to
    understand.

    > who needs ptt anyway?***** A lot of people including the military, FBI,

CIA, local and state police, firefighters, major companies like CocaCola,
IBM, the list goes on. And when referring to Nextel, the actual term is
Direct Connect, not PTT. PTT used to actually refer to the BUTTON you had to
push when using a walkie talkie or similar device. Which is why PTT stands
    for "PUSH TO TALK".
    >
    > Why do you want to turn a cell phone into a walkie talkie? *****The only

similarity between Direct Connect and a walkie talkie is the simplex mode of
conversation (hold down the "PTT" button to speak, then let go for the next
person to reply). How many walkie talkies have a 2,000+ mile range? FRS has
at best a 5-mile and most CB's have maybe a 50 mile range or so.

    and
    > it dials my house...2 and it dials my wife's mobile...
    > What's so hard with that?*****Most of the newer units (and even some of

the older ones) in Nextel's fleet also have speed dial. And my i90c, I can
actually voice dial any of my numbers. Hold down 1 button for 3 seconds and
say "Call Blockbuster" and it dials my local Blockbuster (had to be
programmed in my phonebook, of course)
    >
    > Also: do you want both sides of your conversation heard in the

    restaurant?
    > Just listening to all you prattle on to look self-important..*****You can

turn off the external speaker on most Nextel phones (private/group speaker
on/off) so that only you can hear the other end of the conversation, and the
only difference between that mode and a regular cellular call is that you
still have to press the "PTT" button.

has built in speakerphone, all I have to do is press 1 button to initiate
    it.
