I have a friend with two Mercedes that connect to a StarTac Verizon Phone.
The phone book etc reads out throught the dashboard display. He had to
replace the Startac with a T730 Motorola. Does anyone make an adapter that
will allow the use of the T730??

    thanks

    Frank

    Re: Mercedes T730 adapter

Even if they did, and they dont, it still would not work. The line of phones
made for Mercedes have special Firmware that allows them to interface with
the Mercedes installation kits. They are proprietary and ONLY the Mercedes
phones will work in the Mercedes kits. This has been an age old dilemma for
the Mercedes (BMW, Jaguar and LEXUS) owners from the inception of the Mobile
phone. How else could they command a price of say $900 for a phone that on
the street with an activation is say $149 ? (example)
Your friends best bet is say activate an inexpensive plan for the original
StarTac if that phone and driving is important to him. Besides full
equipment replacement, thats his only real and economical choice.
