I have a Motorola T730C on Verizon. My problem is this: I spend most
of my day in a location with little or no signal. When I'm here it
flips between "no-signal" and analog. This chews the battery something
awful, so by the end of the day I have about 60 seconds of talk time left.
I don't really care about getting a signal when I'm in this dead spot.
I just care about having some battery left when I leave and I do have a
signal!
I don't want to turn the phone off altogether. I go outside this
location several times during the day and I'd hate to have to remember
to always turn it off or on. What I'd like is to force it to not use
analog mode, or somehow tell it not to try so hard to regain a lost
signal. Unfortunately I don't see any such options. The phone has an
"Analog Only" mode, but no "Digital Only".
Suggestions?

Other than a spare battery/charger...nothing comes to mind.

Re: No Signal Battery Killer
Turn off the phone so it doesn't eat the battery??
The phone will use up the battery when it can't find a signal and
spend its time searching for one.
So there's no hope unless you either turn it off or put it on a
charger.

Have a look in the menus - in the Network Selection menus there may be an
option of how frequently to search for a base station - frequency of scan.
Set this to slow search.

Re: No Signal Battery Killer
Well try a Kyocera phone.
It hibernates in absence of signal and the screen says that press a key when
in service area. That way your phone does not actively search for network.
It happens here to me when I get in the NYC subways.
I have a Kyocera 3035. I don't know if the newer ones (like 7135, etc.) have
that feature.
The other option is of course a spare battery/charger as being without power
in time of need is really life threatening and the cell phone will be of no
avail.

You're still going to have to turn off the phone, I'm afraid. Going
into analog mode does eat up battery life, but having the phone go into
search mode for a digital signal eats up the battery even more.
