Hello,
I was testing out a speed dial on my 730 and instead of holding down
the last digit in the speed dial I did the speed dial and hit send.
The speed dial entry was 111 so I called 111 instead.
What I got was a tutorial on setting up cell sites and how to share
frequencies. It was interesting.
So I was wondering if that's just something for my area or every where.
If there are any other numbers that will do that. Also what was I
listening too?

I am a tech in the philly area and I have been using that test call since 1997. It was origionally the readings from book Jurasic Park.. This is prior to nationwide direct connect. If a customer would call me with private service restricted I would have them dial 111 and if they got the readings from the J petterman catalog then I knew they were picking up the New York system.
Now both are the iden system and how it works.. We use it all day long still. To test phones Nextel says for us to make a ten min phone call, if it doesn't drop there is nothing wrong with your phone.
The funny thing with that call is it tells you how superier the 3:1 cellular mode is and how it has better quality then all other modes. Well nextel now changed to 6:1 with the 3 digit series phones.

Dialing 612 will give you a listing of how many minutes you have used during
the current billing period, a break down of DC minutes and cell minutes, how
many minutes you hacve left, what plan you are on, what your plan includes
and when your billing period ends.
