    After 18 months of nightmare dealing with Nextel customer service I have
    been trying for the past two months to cancel. I cancel, get a confirmation
    # and then get a bill. When I call customer service, they are "confused
    about why it's still active". There is no way these people can be this
    stupid! I've never had this problem with other carriers. The phone is
    great, the coverage is great, but it is a complete nightmare dealing with
    the utterly incompetent customer service people!

    You should move to the Detroit area. Customer service is fantastic here.
    I've had a couple of minor problems, one due to my own stupidity with their
    dial-up Internet service, and they hung in with me, on the phone until they
    were solved. Nice people, good service and coverage at a fair price.
    Doesn't get any better than that

    it's not that big of a problem ! Your not paying it cause your service is
    dead so stop bad mouthing them ! HELL of alot better then ATT !

    Me too... Havn't really had any issues with customer service at Nextel..
    They are nice people, and they have always helped me solve my problems in a
    timely matter.

    gripes what so ever with Nextel CS.

    I cancelled them too and they gave me hell! The stupid retail store
    lied to me as well as customer service thinking us as consumers are so
    dumb not to see things coming. The guy at the retail store was on hold
    for over an hour to cancel and said that Nextel does this in hopes you
    will hang up and not cancel in your alloted time frame. I hated the
    service here in CA because of soooo many dead spots. It's funny, my
    friend has Nextel, but uses my phone all the time because of the areas
    that he cannot use his. His company pays for it and he says he would
    never go for it!!!

    Nextel will be utilizing the new split 3:1 compression towards the end of the year. For those who don't know what that means, it allowing twice as much data per timeslot.... double the capacity. Mind you, it will require the new phones which utilize t
    hat, but transparent to the customer. Money that was going to be dumped in capacity sites will now be able to be spent on Expansion. Nextel has the largest digital footprint of all carriers... Notice how Sprint says, largest PCS coverage... hehe they
    can't say digital. Verizon is huge when you add analog and roamers. Nextel is positive cash flow and retiring debt like crazy... cant wait until the expansion starts rolling in!!!

    you never had a problem with another provider... wow, consider
    yourself lucky.

    You're the one that needs to get a grip. A company will equip their people
    with phones and expect them to carry it for a good reason. After the
    continued experience I've had, I definitely believe him.

    I wish I had seen more info like this when I was shopping around.

    No asking you to drop it. Just giving potential customers some advice. If
    I've turned off one potential customer, I've done them a favor and
    potentially harmed Nextel's bottom line a bit for really bad service.
