Nice try. Its Verizons biggest selling point against Nextel.
Demonstrably better coverage with a similar walkie-talkie feature.
The postings from Chicago last week are an example.

As a Verizon and Nextel user, I think that Verizon definately has an
    advantage on
coverage. I prefer to use my Nextel but I go to many areas where coverage
    is poor or
non existent. I think for Nextel to advertise "nationwide" is very
    misleading.
You can't even get a coverage map of the entire US on their site like you
    can on Verizon's
site. Just pieces of maps. I guess they are just real proud of their
    "nationwide" network!
Nextel does not even have all of the interstates covered . The rural areas
    off of the interstates
are just a dream! I have not seen any growth in their coverage in 2-3
    years. All they tell
    you about are their "plans".

    My questions are:
    1. Will Verizon do what it takes to get their customers to sign up for PTT
and get Nextel's customers to leave?
    2. Will Nextel do what it takes to keep their customers and go after
    Verizon's?

I don't think Nextel will lose, Mitch.

Depends on the area. In some areas coverage may be similar, but
nationally, Verizons coverage is far superior to Nextels', call it a
myth if you like but that won't make Nextel's coverage any better.

That's going to upset Mitch. He wants to see Nextel's demise. Why? I don't
    know & don't care.

I know I'm happy with my Nextel service. And I especially like the quality
    of the phones over VZW's.

Cool it with the Nextel cheerleading. You are in the wrong Newsgroup for

Why does it bother you that Nextel is a good company with vastly improved
service over the past year?? I tried Nextel six months ago & the service in
my area was lousy. I went back to them three weeks ago, & let me tell you,
Mitch they have improved. Nextel's not going anywhere. Sorry to burst your
    bubble.

I hope your opinions will not change and you will continue to happy. Three
weeks is not really long enough to determine the worth of a company and its
products IMHO. My experience with Nextel over several years is that when
everything seems to be working well, just wait. They will do something to
screw it up! The Nextel experience is definately a "roller coaster" ride!

Where ever I go and need the Nextel phone to work, it works and this is
not just in one place, this is up and down the eastcoast nyc to fla, on
and off the highways. Saying and meaning it about coverage, not hoping
and dreaming it and continuing the myth.

I don't think Nextel's going anywhere either. They have a huge asset:
their humongous installed base of current customers.

And as I've said, I don't think most of those companies will be flipping
    to Verizon.
