I'm in Philadelphia. I too can use my Nextel phone where ever I go. I've had
no problems making or receiving calls.

Don't you mean Nextel is the 5th (moving in on 4th) largest provider in
the country? And you better check your data- Verizon does not own a
    digital network 20 times larger.

    Re: NexTel's days numbered

I think you are being unrealistic. I don't see how Nextel won't lose,
although that doesn't mean they'll go under. Theyll compete with
Verizon successfully on price, as the other carriers do, and maintain a
certain market share that way. But if you look around in a year or two
you'll see that the vast majority of new PTT customers nationally will
be with Verizon. In five years most business PTT will be with Verizon.
Add to that the fact that I've read several stories claiming that
Verizon will be the prime beneficiary of number portability, and you can
see why Nextel is trying to delay or obstruct Verizon's move to PTT
    through lawsuits.

There you go again, attributing a desire on my part to see Nextel go
down. By the way, why do you think Nextel has been expanding its
service, including this alleged nationwide Direct Connect? You think it
had nothing to do with the arrival of Verizon PTT? They're already
chasing Verizon, and Verizon's PTT in only two weeks old and not even
working well yet. And Sprint's PTT service is around the corner.
Nextel knew this was going to happen eventually. Stick with your Nextel
service if it serves you well, but stay away from their stock...

Maybe, maybe not. Nextel is already in fifth place in market share
nationally, and that's WITH being the only PTT provider. I can't see how
adding Verizon, and soon Sprint into the PTT market won't hurt Nextel's
    growth.

I agree Ben. Nextel has a market segment that will be very difficult for
any carrier to lure away. Come check out the Big Dig in Boston. When
there are thousands of Nextels in use, who is going to change carriers
and NOT be able to have direct contact with the others? I'm ot basshing
Verizon, I'm being realistic. I believe there is a big market of Nextel
users that aren't going to change anytime soon. Maybe Verizon will go
after a different market with their PTT, but the construction industry
