Enjoy it while you can. Nextel knows its days as PTT market leader are
numbered, which is why it chooses to compete by lawsuit, since it can't
compete by network coverage or quality. Whether it takes a week, a month,
six months or two years, Nextel will eventually be reduced to the T-Mobile
    of PTT.

'tis true. But I dont think Nextel's network is going to shrink. And now
with Boost Mobile, there are two companies out there to build out the Nextel

    Your Crazy....

NexTel continues to improve their coverage area. When I was in the Verizon
store a couple of days ago the majority of the customers there were either
upgrading their plans ( not to the PTT -- just more regular minutes) or
signing new contracts with regular cell service. I asked them why they were
not going with the new PTT. There response to me without a word of lie
was -- NEXTEL HAS A BETTER PTT SYSTEM. I like to refer to them as INFORMED
WELL EDUCATED CUSTOMERS. People are not going to leave a company that
provides near instant contact for a PUSH AND WAIT TO TALK SYSTEM.

There is no real delay in the NexTel System. I was in New Mexico and
Arizona three weeks ago and made many PTT calls back to the EAST COAST. As
soon as I keyed up the radio it went through and I got a response back
almost instantly from the other party. Now that is a case of "CAN YOU HEAR
    ME NOW!"

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK NEXTEL

    Regards, NexTel Rocks

    Re: NexTel's days numbered

You think so? Nextel is already one of the smaller providers,
nationally, and that's WITH having been the ONLY PTT provider in the
United States. You don't think that Nextel users will leave over time,
now that there's the option, for the first time, of going to another PTT
provider, especially one that has a native digital network that's 20
times larger than Nextel's? Nextel will have no choice but to compete on
price, which is unfortunately what starts a company's downward spiral.

Remember though, that only Nextel customers were able to have PTT. That
leaves about 60-70 million customers on the other carriers who haven't
felt the need to have PTT, even though Nextel could have provided it for
the asking. Once there are options other than Nextel, the monopoly is
gone. Ands it's gone to much bigger digital networks. So which carrier
    do you think will lose?

The reviews are in, verizon PTT is not as good as nextel's service,
however in many areas, Verizons coverage is better than Nextels.
Nextel, however, unlike SprintPCS is profitable and therefore likely to
    hang around a while.

Well thats not whats happening. Verizon is not giving away PTT to
attract customers (at least not yet). PTT is going to cost you $20/month
    extra from Verizon.

phillipe, the coverage thing is a big myth anyways, but now that vzn's
ptt has finally come out and has been proven to suck the vealots are
back on the coverage myth bandwagon, cuz they got nothing else. Nextel
all digital to vzn's digital service? Enough for most of us to keep us
