Had a jackass beeping my phone and screaming in it last night starting at
around 1:30am. Is there anyway to find out who this person is by their
private id? I beeped the number this morning and the person got very
defensive. Anyone bored give them a holla and tell them to grow up.

    Re: Annoying beepers late night

I am new to the service. I thought that the DC is not initiated until you
respond? At any rate, I have a problem with late night phone calls and faxes
that are not life threatening emergencies. Many people lack common sense in
this world. This person is another one.

Don't bother calling this person as YOUR information will show up on the
caller id and they will start calling you early in the morning.

Ignore the person, and they will slither away!!

That's what I originally thought (and my wife still thinks).. If you
don't hit the "alert" button, you can just look up a number in your
address book and hit the PTT button.. It will skip the alert feature
altogether and you can start talking (assuming the other end is alive
and in the range of an antenna, etc).

Alert is so annoying. It's just easier to hit the PTT once quickly and the
recipient's phone will beep. Alert is one of those "last resort" type of
things where you use it after a few regular PTT's yield nothing.

Have you considered simply turning off your cellphone when you go to bed?

    I agree.Being "alerted" at 7AM and after 9PM when I am snoozing irks me.If
it is an emergency I will "alert" the person. However if it's not I will
simply do a "PTT beep" and see if they respond. It seems every time I turn
off my Nextel I miss an important call.I have not had a landline since 1998.

Have you considered that maybe he can't for business or family emergency
    reasons?

I have a 24/7 need to have my phone on as well. Usually it is on vibrate
a night and still wakes me up if it goes off, but doesn't wake the rest
of the family. Gotta love the occasional email spam that gets sent to
    the phone at 2am.......

If the problem persists, call Nextel and tell them what is happening. =
I'm sure they'll take some kind of action.
