There is never a charge on National Single-Rate.
With a few exceptions, you are always charged on a local plan, if you are
roaming.
On America's Choice it depends on whether you're on Verizon (no roaming
charge, no long distance, all digital features and data calls work), on
the Extended Network (no roaming charge, no long distance, some digital
features will work, data calls generally don't work) or on a non-preferred
network (you're charged for roaming and long distance, digital features and
data don't work except maybe caller ID).
With Nokias, you look at the roaming indicator, which is a triangle. As I
pointed out, the roam indicator does not flash on the Extended Network like
it does on phones from most other manufacturers. However, Michael N. pointed
out that the text banner should change. If it doesn't, take your phone and
get the firmware upgraded at a local VZW store. Which model do you have?
The 3589 is brand-new and should be running the latest firmware available -
I doubt a firmware upgrade has been released yet. The 3285 and 5185i have
been out for a while.

even if you have a verizon wireless phone and been with them for quite a
while they will try to screw you over as they have I. They even when i got
my phone they forced me into a phone i didn't want one of the black lg flip
phones I am not sure of the modle off hand well back in june it would go in
and out of service when i live between 3 verizon towers and only my verizon
phone acted like this the other two verizon phones in my house had full
signals so I took my phone to get it fixed and they refused to fix it
because they couldn't get it to reproduce the error so I just got on the
interstate to get home and the phone started acting up again so i turned
right back around and told them they need to fix it they swapped it out for
a nother lg phone that part was fixed but it caused a new problem that
everytime I take the phone off the home charger or the cla the phone would
shut off they again refused to fix the phone so I canceled my account with
verizon now they want over $400 for there phone that never worked right in
the 1st place. I have filed complaints with not only Verizon but the BBB
for there shady dealings and there switch and bait tactics by saying my
problem is there problem and that they would solve it well it's been several
months and they still have not solved the problem I tell you that verizon
wireless sucks and I refuse to go back to Verizon now on the other hand
nextel has treated me right and slowly i've been replacing the verizon
phones my family has with nextels at least nextel works for me and is a good
enough quality product and service that I would recoment it to anyone and am
considering adding Nextel phones to my line of products that I sell

Good grief...go back to school..learn what a paragraph is, as well as proper
puncuation and grammar, and then post. Posting one HUGE run on sentence
makes you appear lazy and ignorant and it's near impossible to read.

What a *****, I seemed to have no problem reading it! This isn't a newspaper
you are reading, it's a ****in' newsgroup. This information isn't being sold
or published. We're all here to have fun, share ideas, and opinions on our
current cellular providers. You need to pull that pinecone out of your ass
and enjoy life.
Sorry to hear about your Verizon service. I live in an area where all
cellular providers have excellent service. I really can't bash any of them,
I do have Nextel and I give them 2 thumbs up for sure. My mom has had Nextel
for about 6 or 7 years and she doesn't plan on switching any day soon.
Verizon has better service in rural areas and in basements, other than that
Nextel is the most bang for the buck. Sprint is kind of popular with their
cheap color screen phones and picture phones, they'll also let you sign a
contract even if don't have any credit. Thats a great way of targetting
teens with no credit. T-Mobile has or had a plan for $49.99 a month and you
got 3000 daytime minutes. Sounds great when you have service, my dad signed
up for that and he has sevice about 70% of the places he's at. Not worth it
to me, but it's a cheap replacement for long distance service for the house.
