Editing MP3 or Mid file

Hi all,

I am new to this MP3 phenomenon, I am using an Mp3 as a ringtone but
wish to remove the first five second.... Is there a free easy to use
program available to enable this.

Also I would like to do similar editing to a .MID file.

Any suggestions

and it is great for making suitable ringtones
in mp3 format.
