will a usb data cable also charge the phone?

hi all, just got a data cable for my siemens phone, and was wondering if it
would also charge the phone when connected via usb?

i dont have the phone atm to test it, so does anyone know?

well, it wont charge anything unless it plugs into the charger plug

I have a 6100 and a USB cable that plugs into the "Pop-port" at the base of
the phone.

It charges the phone while I'm busy uploading/testing ringtones.
