    This may happen in case of non-original cable (based on Prolific chipset,
    for example). Nokia PC Suite will recognize only official DKU-5 cables.

    Do you have the serial to USB drivers? I keep reading where this is a
    common problem. Not sure in your case but ...

    Get a USB-IR attachment. More generically useful then a specialized Nokia
    cable, and a fraction fo the rpice.
