my friend just got Cingular nokia 3595 and it came w/ built in IM. She was
able to logon to AOL mobile messenger and get her buddy list on her phone.
As far as she know, it doesn't use GPRS since she didn't sign up for it.
Nothing in Cingular's website indicates that either. Looks like as long as
you sign up for text messaging, and have an AOL messenger capable phone, it
    works.

I would like to have the same capability on my nokia 3650. With this great
phone, I'm able to install IM+ and AgileMessenger but both requires a GRPS
connection to work. What is the difference between the 2? Does anyone know
what I need to configure to make AOL messenger work on my nokia 3650?

GPRS is a way to connect your phone to the internet.
Instead of using minutes (as your friend with your 3595 probably does), GPRS
is charged by the amount of data you use and is usually faster than CSD (the
type of connection used by your friend's phone).. and besides this there are
many other differences, but these are the most noticeable by the user of the
    service.

Depending on your wireless service provider, you have a certain way of
connecting to the internet. 3650 can use both CSD and GPRS. It depends on
your provider which of the two you can choose. IM+ and AgileMessenger need
only a connection to the internet. It does not matter which kind (CSD or
    GPRS).

For exact info of how to setup a proper internet connection (be it WAP or
plain internet through CSD or GPRS), contact your wireless service provider.
They should be able to tell you how.

    Good luck.
