My 8310 was working fine with no problems, then in the morning as I turned
the phone back on it prompted me with the Insert Sim message, thinking it
was just being cranky I gave the sim card and the conductors a clean with a
dry cloth thinking this would sort the problem. But the phone still refuses
to see it. I have tried another sim in the phone and get the same error and
if I try the sim cards in another phone they work fine.

Does anyone know if it is possible to fix this problem or is simply a better
option to buy another phone rather than waste money on getting it fixed?

Thanks in advance for any advice

Try cutting down a post-it note and sticking it onto the back of the SIM
card. It might be that the SIM card isn't pressing down hard enough on the
contacts. I had to do this with an old 3310.

    Hello

9 times out of 10 I would expect that solder joint(s) under a very small I/C
to have cracked. We would charge £25 + Carriage £6 + VAT to resolve that
type of problem. Of course in 1 out of 10 cases the above will be totally
wrong. Your decision whether its worth it - in many cases not if you can get
un upgrade. We are in Leeds, England.

    Regards
