Opera on Nokia 6600 - Big sites

I'm thinking of a Nokia 6600 instead of my Samsung E700 just for the
Opera Browser. I really want to be able to make eBay searches to get
prices of completed items while I'm out and would like to just use the
one device. My brother uses a Nokia 7650 with a PDA through bluetooth
so I installed Opera onto his phone and I couldn't get through 2 pages
of eBay without getting Memory Full. The phone is completely empty and
I know the 6600 only has 2mb extra, besides the memory card it lists.
Can you use this and does it come with it? But fundamentally I don't
understand how you can fill up over 2mb of memory free when each page
I'm doing is surely only a 100k.

How do owners of this phone find Opera copes with big sites,
particularly eBay if you can try it I just need to get it to the
"Completed Items" version of a done search, leave it there, and then
its just one page for each new search. Better that than trawling
through 3-4 GPRS eating pages each time!

Yeah it does. The 7650 has 4 but more than 1 of that is reserved.

umm jpegs are compressed...when viewed...they are uncompressed....get it....

try netfront browser instead....havent had as many memory probs as opera ...

and btw trying to put an existing engine into a symbian phone ...ur gonna
get all sorts of probs....

netfront browser was built from scratch....

and isnt as bloated as opera...opera is one big fat program....even the
symbian one....

doris is a nice browser, if you want an alternative...

well in the settings you can make images show ON...or load images as you
view them or load ALL the images at once...etc

Yes.. but the point is that Opera still runs out of memory real fast
even when all images are off. There are a few sites that Opera works
well with, mostly sites that don't feature a lot of complicated
formatting, a lot of content and no advanced navigation controls. Say
the web as it existed in 1995. ;-)

Opera is in need of a serious rewrite. I don't care about images, but
many pages these days are very complicated in the way they're
formatted and the way navigation happens. This does not work well in
Opera, and it runs out of memory real fast. Like a previous poster
said, that's completely unacceptable when the page itself is not over
100kB. (Keep in mind that Opera itself, the install file, is 700kB.
More than twice the size of ANY OTHER symbian application, including
most games!

Opera works quite well with pages that were designed for mobile
devices though.

well said, thats why i stick with netfront....

only prob that it has is some javascript commands stuffs it up occassionally
but it just comes up with an error, I press OK and it ignores it..and it
continues loading the page...
