I forgot the password. I can't even see, never mind format, the card from my
desktop. I've searched Google up and down for apps that might help me, but
there are none! Effectively, the only devices out there that even admit the
existence of my MMC are my phones, but without the password I can do
nothing. Nokia said buy a new MMC.

Can anybody help? I don't even care about the data on the card, I just want
to be able to use my MMC! How can the design of the password protection
scheme legitimately justify the destruction of physical property?

you can have control of my life if you want, that's the point, you don't

if you really know what your doing you should try and delete the partition
off the mmc, that will delete the password too.

use a DOS program called FDISK and a computer without XP....use an older DOS
compatible machine and wipe the partition, create a new one and then format
it but not i repeat NOT FAT32

    cheers

And where would I find USB drivers for DOS that will allow me to hook up my
MMC card reader? I know that there are bootable USB devices, but I doubt my
    card reader would work.

Re: Is my password protected MMC garbage?

You can do it with windows xp, you just need half a brain ..

Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Computer Management, Disk Management

You can remove and create partitions from here .. as for formatting it, You
can select FAT (instead of FAT32) from the format dialog on some removeable
media (will depend on how your card reader presents itself to the OS, and
the size of the card). If you get the option for FAT, use it.

If not, open a dos prompt (Start, Run..., CMD) and type format /?

Use the information given there to select a file system of FAT

    eg, format E: /FS:FAT

where E is the drive letter of your memory card ..

(Note: This WILL erase the card .. )

Ah, I hadn't thought of using admin tools. Thank you for being so
condescending in reminding me of their existence.

At any rate, unfortunately (whether by accident or not), Nokia thought of
everything. I guess they were serious when they suggested a new MMC. The
card simply doesn't exist as far as anything but my phones is concerned and
its totally inaccessible by any apparent method.

At least it wasn't a big, expensive card.

The condesending wasnt meant at you .. it was directed towards the guy that
claimed windows XP can't do it .. It just annoys me when people say Windows
XP can't do half the stuff older OS's can, when in reality it can .. but
anywya .. that aside .. thats odd that it doesnt show up even to the drive
    manager ..
