    Hi all,
I acquired my Nokia 7600 from Carphone Warehouse 3 weeks ago and ported my
number from Orange (it's a great memorable number that I got for nowt in '96
and the 3 VideoTalk 500 tariff is much cheaper).

Since the handset was free and I managed to keep my number I'm not too
fussed about keeping the handset, and now that I've unlocked it I'm
considering selling it and using the SIM in my XDA II (or even Nokia 7110).
The 3 SIM works in both these handsets but interestingly in the 7110 it
comes up on o2 and in the XDA II it comes up on o2 but with the triangular
    "roaming" symbol.

Before I stick the 7600 on eBay can somebody tell me if this roaming on o2
is roaming in the tradition sense, ie I would get charged for incoming calls
and I can't use my inclusive minutes as I'm not technically on 3? If this
is the case then there's no point getting rid of the 7600, however with the
SIM in the XDA II I called 333 (3 customer services) and got through. Not
sure if I'll be charged though ....

It's probably a basic question (and one I think I know the answer to) but
    help would be appreciated ...

    Hi Dusty,

The symbol that you see is a roaming signal and as such you will be
charged extra. Three are also locking down on people who do not use a
3G handset to access their service....if you search around you will
see that handsets such as the T68 and others are already barred from
the 3 network....I think they check the IMEI. Very soon you will not
be able to use the 3 sim in any 2-2.5g handset.

Well I appear to have answered my own question. Yesterday (and this
evening) I decided to take the plunge and make a call with the 3 SIM in the
XDA II. I checked my inclusive minutes before and after the call and the
call had indeed been taken from the balance, same again this evening. I've
also heard that when the 3 handset can't find a 3 network signal it locks
onto o2 instead; not sure how true this is but I'm willing to take a chance
as I've had the SIM in the XDA for 24 hours and it's still working fine.

Maybe I'll pay in the long-run eh?? :-)
