Dear all,
I have an unlocked Nokia 7210 that I had working successfully with a
T-Mobile contract SIM. I wanted to use this phone on a Pay As You Go
tariff from T-Mobile and purchased a SIM. Put it in, turned it on - all
OK. Turned phone off, left voicemail. When I turned the phone back on it
didn't push the new voicemail message to the phone. Dialled VM, retrieved
message OK and deleted VM.
However, at some point the phone start permanently displaying the tape reel
at the top left of the screen. There are no VM messages. I have gone
through the VM set up (222) several times and also left messages but the
symbol doesn't disappear. Swapped SIMs with another contract phone; the
symbol moves with the SIM card!
Anyone know how to remove/reset VM to clear this symbol, and ensure when a
new voicemail is left the symbol is displayed and a "new voicemail -
listen?"-type message is shown?? Customer services couldn't help...
TIA,
Stu

Sending yourself another Voicemail and then deleting it usually clears the
symbol

Might want to try using the phone with a different SIM card (a friend's
SIM?), then off/on with the normal SIM that u use usually.

Stuart,
There is a program that is used to send 'false' messages to people (both
voice and text). It just sends the relevant message received icon such as
the 'tape reel' or envelope. This can be used to both 'turn on' and 'turn
off' the icon.
Any problems, let me know and I shall have a good scout through my back up
CDs.
If all else fails you can always but my 7210!
