The screen of my Nokia 6610 is very slow.
When I scroll through my menu's, I see the items fade-out, fade-in.
It is very irritating.

That's because the phone has a *passive* matrix screen, and it's more
pronounced on a cold day. It was the same situation with older
generation laptops which used the same screen technology.
*Active* matrix screen technology (TFT) does not have this problem.
Try warming the phone up a bit ?
