    I purchased a Nokia DRL-3P Data Cable a few months ago, to link a 6110i to a
    handheld computer with 9-pin RS232.

However, subsequently purchased cables have experienced communication
problems. Investigation has shown that some DRL-3P Cables have pin 5
    disconnected!

The only identifying feature on the cable seems to be that the "simpler"
cables are made in Thailand, whereas the original (working) cables are
    manufactured in Slovakia.

Does anyone know why (and if) Nokia have changed the specification for the
    cable?

    Cheers
    Charlie.

Re: Nokia DRL-3P Cable Specification Change

As far as I know, all the cables are Nokia originals. My reference cable
was purchased in a mobile phone store, with full Nokia packaging, as were
subsequent batches. All the cables are badged as "Nokia", so apart from the
possibility of fraudulent copies, I believe they are all genuine.

    Is there a 6110i? I used to have a 6110 and that didn't work with a
DLR3 cable. Do you mean a 6310i? Or is there a 6110i? I liked the
6110- the phone that started me out as a Nokia user, and haven't
changed since (well except for an Ericsson T68i for a while).

Do they have 'Nokia' written on them, with their logo style? It sounds
like you have all third party cables- in which case, some may support
the 6310i (if that is what you have), and some may only support the
    older 6210/7110 etc.

Re: Nokia DRL-3P Cable Specification Change

Actually, I didn't have the phone the hand when writing the post - so it
probably isn't a 6110i at all. But since it is the cable with the issue,
    don't worry about it.

It does have Nokia written on it - both cables appear very similar. If it
is not genuine, it is a deliberate fake.
