Have seen loads of stuff a lot in error about 7250i so thought I'd
post some help -
This refers to the cable connection , Oxygen II and PC Suite
Make sure the drivers are installed first as supplied by Nokia. They
can be downloaded from their web site if needed.
1. There are clone cables about. I bought a NOKIA DKU-5 and when I had
trouble I took it to the local Nokia support and they said that it was
a clone and not an original. I paid about £25 pounds but the original
seems to be nearer £40. Please don't post to show where they are
cheaper, this isn't the point of this post.
2. My clone cable sometimes says not supported and sometimes works
very erratic but I can't take it to Nokia to sort out as it is not a
Nokia cable and anyway sods law says it would work when I got there !
It sometimes works and sometimes doesn't depending whether I have the
cable plugged ito the USB port (I have used the PC port or a hub with
no difference).
3. Oxygen is pretty good but is damn odd to configure and get working.
they have obviously set it up to stop pirating their software. If you
follow the very convoluted e-mails they sent it eventually works
BUT....
4. Oxygen needs to be set up properly with the cable. You need to
select the cable and also the serial port. This doesn't work until you
read one of their help files which says double click the serial port
in Oxygen and select 'DLR-3 or DLR-3P' instead of 'DAU-9P/FBUS' this
stumped me for hours ! Providing the phone drivers were installed then
all is OK.
5. Oxygen is bloody bad in its help. It does the job but the help file
doesn't explain half the things that are happening. There is an option
to immediatly transfer an I use this and it seems ok. I was expecting
a drag and drop system (like mobimb ?) as I use for my digital camera
so I suggest people look carefully at other software first. Trouble is
that the 'trials' aren't fully featured so I had to buy before I found
the problems.
6. Want to store ringtones - well it is possible to set up in the
gallery or set up a new folder. All OK BUT there is a FAQ on the Nokia
site that says that not all midi files can be played. I have used PC
Suite Sound Converter to set up the polyphonic sound. Plays OK in PC
Suite. Saves OK. Plays OK in Winamp. I save it with Oxygen and it is
stored OK. But then get an error message that is known to Nokia as per
the FAQ. Looks like they are out of their depth supplying coversion
software that doesn't work and they don't even bother to explain why !
7. There are loads of ringtones around that can cost the earth. Hunt
down midi files and I foud all sorts of things - found a brilliant
halloween ring tone - ideal for an early moring call (John Carpenter
theme music). Don't bother buying any. Use google to search and there
are loads around that can be copied.
8. So big problem is why 7250i won't play midi files that have been
converted using their own software. I've sent a message and will post
if I ever get an answer.
9. Things I've not tried - go look at logomanager website - I wish I
had earlier. They sell original cables, so they say, and clones. But
there are folks who have used the IRDA and it looks a hell of a lot
cheaper. Not tried it but I wish I had instead of the DKU-5 clone. I
am now trying to get my money back for the supplier who won't admit to
it being a clone and says that they will have to contact their
supplier. Bought it through Amazon so I hope they will have the
decency to help sort it out as it was misrepresentation. Have heard
that some clone cables work and Oxygen actaully mention the name of
one of them.

Good Luck !
