Not with a 6100. You need a DKU-5 cable instead, or alternatively an IR
    dongle.

he may have been referring to a 6110, which was a 6100 series ages and
    ages ago.

Ok, cable works with Nokia suite so I guess that'll have to do for
    now.

Which phone do you have? The 6100 will NEVER work with a DAU-9P cable, so
are you referring to a 6110 or 6150? If the cable works with (I'm assuming)
Data Suite, it should work with Oxygen.

No I do have a 6100 and it does indeed work with a dau-9p cable just
    not in OPM.

I'd love to know how you managed to connect a DAU-9P cable to a 6100 - the
    connector doesn't fit for starters.

Have a look at http://www.nokia.co.uk/nokia/0,,21340,00.html and the
    connectivity section.

are you sure you have a 6100 (colour screen, slim phone)? and not a
    6110 (old 6100 series, aerial)

    do you have:

http://tinyurl.com/5r8pj this phone, uses a dau-9p serial cable

    or:

http://tinyurl.com/6g4us this phone, uses a dku-5 usb cable (serial
really, but plugs into a usb port)

    Thank you for your request!

Our program support DAU-9p/F-Bus connection on software level for this
phone, however, we cannot guarantee the connection (as even such
cable's manufacturer doesn't give any warranties). In case, if there
are no defects in cable and there is no firmware block, set up by your
cellular network operator or local (regional) mobile phones dealer,
this type of cable should function.

Anyway, you can test this cable's functionality with the trial license
of Oxygen Phone Manager II ( http://www.opm-2.com/symbian/ ).

We strongly recommend to use only official Nokia DKU-5 cables, as
non-original cable use cancels your phone's warranty and thirdparty
cables may not transfer correctly or transfer at all gallery images
and melodies, MMS messages, JAVA midlets and games and even common SMS
    meesages (rare issue).

If you have any questions and/or suggestions, concerning our
program, feel free to post them on our official forum
    http://www.opm-2.com/forum/

Really? Since when has the DAU-9P supported the Nokia 6100?

It really is about time you actually read the posts before using them as an
    opportunity to advertise Oxygen.

We always supported Nokia 6100 with DAU-9p/F-Bus on software level
since version 2.1.0.0 (official F-Bus support for Nokia 6100). If you
cannot establish connection, there could be two problems:

    1) Cable defect or improper cable connection.

    2) Some standard services may block F-Bus connection under MS Windows
NT 4.0 / XP / 2003 Server under standard IRQ (Interrupt Request)
values, assigned for COM port you are using. In this case changing IRQ
value to alternative one may help (it should be not IRQ 3 or IRQ 4-
standard IRQ's, assigned for COM ports).

If you are using technological cable, which connects under the phone's
battery, you should also check the following parameters:

    1) In case of 6100 phone you should remove SIM card holder (you can
see corresponding screenshot in electronic help for our connection
wizard) to get access to technological contacts under the battery.

    2) Make sure, that you have placed SIM card in corresponding slot in
    cable's contact platform.

    3) You should delete soft isolating foam (if present) around cable's
pin-contacts, as it may block proper connection

    4) There should be at least 3 contact pins on cable's contact
platform. They should be of the same length and should spring
simultaneously with regular intervals. None of contact pins should
    stuck in cable's contact platform.

    5) The phone should be turned on, when you are trying to establish
connection. If the phone is turned off, then there'll be no connection
    between the phone and PC.

    6) If you have 'F(F-Bus)/M(M-Bus)' switch on your cable's contact
platform, you should place it in 'F(F-Bus)' position.

If the screen flickers or the phone restarts, when you are trying to
establish connection, it means, that the cable, you are trying to use,
is defective. If you are getting 'Accessory not supported' message on
your phone's screen, it means, that F-Bus connection on this phone is
blocked by special firmware lock, set by cellular network operator or
    your mobile phone supplier.

POP-port F-Bus cables (both USB and serial) may require one of these
    different modes in our program:

    1) *First mode:* In 'Tools' -> 'Options' -> 'Connection and common' ->
'Connection' -> 'Add port' set virtual (in case of USB) or physical
(in case of serial connection) COM port number. Change your cable's
connection type from 'DAU-9p/F-Bus' to 'DLR-3/DLR-3p' and press 'Ok'
    to confirm settings.

    2) *Second mode:* In 'Tools' -> 'Options' -> 'Connection and common'
-> 'Connection' -> 'Add port' set virtual (in case of USB) or physical
(in case of serial connection) COM port number. Leave your cable's
connection type as 'DAU-9p/F-Bus'. Press 'Ok' to confirm settings.
Close Oxygen Phone Manager II. In 'My computer' -> 'Control panel' ->
'System' -> 'Hardware' -> 'Device manager' -> 'Ports COM and LPT' ->
right-click on port, you are currently using for connection ->
'Properties' -> 'Resources' - here you should set alternative IRQ
(Interrupt Request) value for COM port (shouldn't be IRQ 3 or IRQ 4).
In most cases, setting IRQ 5 or IRQ 7 solves the problem.

If you have any questions and/or suggestions, concerning our
program, feel free to post them on our official forum
    http://www.opm-2.com/forum/

Go on then, explain how you'll connect a DAU-9P cable (which connects to the
bottom of the phone NOT behind the battery) to a 6100 which uses a Pop-Port
    connector?

    Thank you for your reply!

In case, if you are using USB datacable, you should install the latest
virtual COM port emulation drivers before plugging the cable in USB
    port.

    In case, of ProLific ( http://www.prolific.com.tw/ ) PL-2303 chipset
drivers, you can download corresponding USB to serial bridge drivers
    on this page:

    http://tech.prolific.com.tw/visitor/v_fileBrw.asp

Open 'Smart I/O IC' -> 'USB 1.1' -> here you should select 'USB to
Serial bridge' with corresponding chipset (PL-2303 or later
modifications) -> select driver, matching your operation system and PC
license policy (with or without Windows XP certification signature).

In case, if you have USB cable from OsiTech ( http://www.ositech.com/
), you can download corresponding virtual COM port emulation drivers
    here:

    http://www.ositech.com/Tech/TechDetail.asp?product=27

After you have installed the drivers, reboot PC, then plug your
pop-port cable in POP port and attach phone with cable to USB port.
You may see 'new USB device found' operating system notification on
the screen. If dialogue window appears, just select automatic search
for corresponding drivers. System reboot after device detection phase
    may be also required.

From now, the procedure is similar for USB and serial POP-port cables.

    1) Open 'My computer' -> 'Control panel' -> 'System' -> 'Hardware' ->
'Device manager' -> 'Ports COM and LPT' in case of Windows NT 4.0
(non-USB cable only) / 2000 / XP and 2003 server (both in classic
desktop) or 'Start' -> 'Settings' -> 'Control panel' -> 'System' ->
    'Devices' -> 'Ports COM and LPT' under MS Windows 95 / 98 / 98 SE /
    Millenium.

    2) Right-click once on virtual (in case of USB cable) or physical (in
case of serial cable) COM port and select 'Properties' option from
    context menu.

    3) In 'Advanced', 'General' or 'Port parameters' bookmark (name
depends on drivers version ) you should set COM ports speed upto
    '115200 bit/s' (115.2 kilobits per second) from 9600 bit/s (default
operating system value). 115.2 kilobits per second is standard data
full-duplex mode (F-Bus) data transfer speed for Nokia phones.

    4) Open Oxygen Phone Manager II ( http://www.opm-2.com/ ) and choose
'Tools' -> 'Options' -> 'Connection and common' -> 'Connection' ->
'Add port' - here you should add corresponding physical or virtual COM
port, you have adjusted in step (3). Left-click once on 'DAU-9p/F-Bus'
sign and select 'DLR-3/DLR-3p' option from pop-up menu. Press 'Ok' to
    confirm settings.

    5) If the program doesn't pick the phone up, you may need to
configuarate your cable as F-Bus with alternative IRQ values. The
problem is, that some default system processes under MS Windows NT 4.0
    / 2000 /XP / 2003 server may block F-Bus data transfer by thirdparty
cable with standard Interrupt Request (IRQ) values, assigned for COM
ports - IRQ 3 and IRQ 4. I.e., your COM port's IRQ under these
operating systems should be neither IRQ 3, nor IRQ 4. In this case you
should set the cable up as follows:

    A) Open 'Tools' -> 'Options' -> 'Connection and common' ->
'Connection' and set your cable's type (vis. step (4) back to
'DAU-9p/F-Bus'. Press 'Ok' to confirm settings.

    B) Open 'My computer' -> 'Control panel' -> 'System' -> 'Hardware' ->
'Device manager' -> 'Ports COM and LPT' -> right-click on your COM
port -> go to 'Resources' tab. Uncheck 'Automatic setting' checkbox
and press 'Ok' button. If operating system requests for reboot, reboot
    your system.

    C) Open 'Resources' tab for COM port back again (vis. step 'B'). Here
you can select alternative Interrupt Request (IRQ) values from
predefined profiles or change IRQ number directly using 'Change
setting' button: click once on IRQ (Interrupt request) sign (not
number!) and press 'Change setting' button. System reboot may also be
required after this step. Remember: your Interrupt Request (IRQ) port
shouldn't be IRQ 3 or IRQ 4. In most cases setting IRQ 5 or IRQ 7
values helps (you can exchange IRQ's between your serial port and
soundcard, for example). Some PC motherboards allow to change IRQ
(Interrupt Request) setting only from System BIOS (please, contact
your motherboard manufacturer's customer support department for
further steps on changing IRQ's from system BIOS).

    D) Run Oxygen Phone Manager II ( http://www.opm-2.com/ ) and make
sure, that your phone is connected and turned on.

    *Important notes:*

    1) We don't support MS Windows NT 4.0 , 95 (both common and OSR-2) and
98 (not SE) officially in Oxygen Phone Manager II (
http://www.opm-2.com/ ), however, it may function with our program
    (not guaranteed).

    2) If your phone screens flickers or the phone itself restarts, when
the phone is connected or when you are trying to transfer any data,
then, it means, that the cable is defective.

    3) Some non-original F-Bus cables may not transfer properly or
transfer at all Gallery entries, JAVA games and midlets, MMS and even
SMS messages. It is technological defect issue. Please, change the
    cable to another one.

    4) Some cellular phone suppliers or cellular network operators may ban
F-Bus (only F-Bus mode) data transfer for thirdaprty cables. It
doesn't depend on firmware version, as this hidden option can be set
on any firmware. In this case, the only way to synchronize your phone
with PC is to use infrared transceiver or official Nokia DKU-5 cable.
If F-Bus mode for thirdparty cables is banned on firmware level, you
may see 'Accessory not supported' warning on the phone's screen (but,
also, you may see no warning messages at all).

    5) Please, make sure, whether COM port connection isn't occupied with
Nokia PC Suite or Microsoft Active Sync, as these programs may occupy
the whole connection even in inactive mode. In some cases one may need
to uninstall Nokia PC suite completely.

    6) In most cases Nokia PC Suite doesn't support F-Bus cable connection
(there are only rare successful connection cases under MS Windows XP,
as per reports from our respective customers and colleagues).
