hi everyone,
im new to the whole posting thing, please be kind )
i have a nokia 6600, and i am very knowledgable about them and stuff, but i was just wondering if somewhere out there in the big wide world is an application either for symbian series 60 or a pc download to trace calls from ur phone.
im sick of 'private' or 'withheld' calls, the police have applications and software to do it, ambulance service has it, even some businesses has it, so is there a way?
please help with this,
all the best

Re: TRACING CALLS
Doubt it very much even if businesses can do it. Beleive the part of the information that your number is sent in as part of the packet of data is encrypted when you enable 141 and only people (BT/NTL/999/Government etc) have kit to work out what the number really is.

You forgot to ask them not to post in HTML. Sheesh, do I have to do
everything myself? ;-)

It is clever/scary what they can do.
We (work for HM Coastguard) had a search request for a guy who was
reporting to his mother, who then informed the police, that he was
going to walk into the sea.
Police 'pinged' his phone with the networks assistance, and grabbed
him outside the train station in the city (10 miles from the sea)
Admittedly, they already knew his number, but to have a wpc walk up to
you and tap you on the shoulder in a big city centre is quite a feat!!

Re: TRACING CALLS
TBH, I agree with above and do get fed up with with-held numbers, so much
so, I have stopped answering them!
OK, I may miss calls, and it costs me to call them back, if they do actually
leave a message, but, it is a pain.
Summat like this would be nice, but, I do realise the implications of it
being made widely available too......
neil, and his unlocked phones :~)

Re: TRACING CALLS
on the other hand you may want to remain private someday - personally I
would like to have the facility on the phone, cell or landline, to create a
blocked ringers list like we can with emails....

Re: TRACING CALLS
You CAN with BT (not too sure with mobiles though)
With BT you can have "Choose to Refuse" service where you select numbers
that you do NOT want to contact you, and these calls will be rejected.
Or
You can have "Anonymous Call Rejection". Any withheld numbers would not get
through to you.
Not too sure whether the mobile nteworks support this though

Re: TRACING CALLS
Nice thing is that choose to will refuse also works with INDAVIDUAL withheld
numbers.
