This sounds petty, but bear with me please.

The alarm clock on my 6310i is misbehaving.
If I set it for any time at all it will not trigger, however the
next time the phone hangs up from any call the alarm will go
off after a few seconds. The alarm will silence as expected but
will re-trigger constantly. The only reset is by battery removal.

    Any ideas?

This is a UK based phone on an Orange contract.

Contact a Nokia service centre. If it's out of warranty you'll likely
    pay a service charge.

Thankfully the Mokia is under a replacement warranty right now and
Orange are willing to exchange it or change to another model. I am
thinging about a 6600 or similar. Anyone got a recommendation for
one of the Nokia's available on www.orange.co.uk ? They would
supply me any phone they have available as a replacement.

Probably the best phone without frills that Nokia has ever made and still in
big demand. Stick to the 6310i.
