Hi there, I have a pure newbie question, most surely already asked
here. I looked for the answer, but couldn't find here so far.
Furthermore, I've performed some web researching, and couldn't also
    find any satisfactory answer.
Problem is I've had my 6310i replaced by a 6230 today. Prior to return
the 6310i, I've copied data to a PC, using IR and NCC, this one from
    the original 6310i delivered CD.
After having received the 6230, I've found out database is quite
different, for example, .ncc file must become .nfb ones.
The NCC version delivered with the 6230 doesn't recognize 6310i files
    :-(
I understand there are both available scripts and commercial software,
such as Oxygen, but it's hard to believe standard Nokia applications
don't provide support for such basic needs.
    Is that indeed so?
What do you suggest, in order to easily retrieve, my contacts, to-do
    list, messages, and so on?

    T.I.A.

    Regards,

You should have first uninstalled the original nokia data suite and
installed the latest from the nokia web site -
    http://www.nokia.com/nokia/0,,54692,00.html

Then you should have saved the 6310i data with the *new* software. You
would have gotten compatible .nfb files that can be uploaded to the 6230.

..nfb files are for one model only, they even refuse to restore to a
different SW version. You need to backup the data with option 3 from
PC suite, that gets you a .nfc file. From there PC suite will restore
as much data as it can to the new phone.

Why they could not combine that function with the real backup escapes me.

Migrating data from 6310i to 6230

If you are still having Nokia 6310i, you can transfer your data from 6310i
to 6230 using Oxygen Phone Manager II ( http://www.opm-2.com/ ). Using our
software you can transfer phonebook, calendar, To-Do list, SMS information,
JAVA and logos from one phone to another by Bluetooth, cable or IR
connection in one software ( you can even connect the both phones
    parallely).

You can download the latest free trial version of Oxygen Phone Manager II
    here:

    http://www.opm-2.com/download/opm2.zip

PS: images and JAVA files may not be transferred properly, or be transferred
at all via Infrared connection in Nokia 6230. It is technical feature of
    Nokia 6230.

If you have any questions and/or suggestions, concerning our
program, feel free to post them on our official forum
    http://www.opm-2.com/forum/

It has been said before, but it's worth repeating:

If you are still having Nokia 6310i, you can transfer your data from
6310i to 6230 using the latest version of the Nokia PC Suite.
