Nokia 9500 USA Release-When?

Has anyone heard when the Nokia 9500 will be released in the United
States? Everything I can find simply says "first quarter." I saw this
phone while traveling and would really like to get one at a reasonable
price

I bet that the people in Nokia don't even know. If they say "first quarter"
it's because they hope it happens first quarter. But don't hold your breath
as it probably won't be available until fall.

From=20what I have seen, the phone companies seem to have a stranglehold on
the release of phones in the USA, unlike Europe, Asia, Australasia etc.,
where it is both the phone companies, and independent dealers who sell the
phones.

So maybe you should ask your Telco?

I bought a 9500 last week (The Netherlands) and was happy for six days,
although spending tons of time for the settings, but today - just having
evrything properly working, blue tooth, WLAN, GPRS, and various e-mail
accounts - my 9500 just went blank on me. It does nothing anymore, not even
phonecalls.... maybe Europe is just the testing-area and the US gets the
real thing. If not, reconsider or verify you get a good after-sales support,
because the 9500 is just the machine you will start to depend on and the
quality does not yet seem to justify that. Not even a week! And I have
really caressed it!
