Hi,
I finally found the reason for the irDA connection problems with the nokia
pc suite on XP !
My infrared connection was very unreliable and disconnected frequently
without any reason.
By switching of all other connections (USB, serial) in the Nokia Connection
manager, I force the nokia PC suite to stick with the infrared connection
and this seems to solve all my problems :-D

Sorry, it doesn't help all the time.
After posting this message, my connection just hangs again :-(
Any ideas ?
Thanks, Eric

My irda used to be just as flaky as the BT connections people often
talked about.
After I had my phone upgraded to firmware version 5.24, I have not
experienced an irDA session failure yet.

Have you tried slowing down the speed for the IR port?
Worked for me when I had problems sync-ing my laptop and phone.

No, the irDA is too frigging slow anyways.
I bought myself a cheap DKU-2 cable clone which is stable and somewhat
faster. Still, the only effective way to transfer masses of data to the
phone's MMC card is to use an USB card reader.
Besides, the problem of flaky irDA seems to be fixed after getting
firmware 5.24.
