Newbie question. How can I tell what firmware version my 6230 phone is
at? Is it worth upgrading firmware?

My main problem with the phone is the tortuous way of getting music
onto the MMC and creating playlists for them.

Secondary is using the phone as a modem under GPRS which I've never
succeeded at yet. There are more issues I have with syncing to Outlook
on my PC using a data cable.

    regards, jrisch

*#0000# when the phone is in standby. latest is 5.24.

if the phone resets, freezes from time to time it may be worth
upgrading. i personally haven't had a single problem with my 6230
    running firmware 4.44.

its simple for me. nokia audio manager and a dku-2 cable does the job
    easily and quickly.

again, works fine for me. connect to the pc using dku-2 cable, nokia
one touch access software (free from nokia.com), access to o2 mobile
    web gprs works 110%

Thanks Eggster2k, My firmware is 4.28. I don't have problems with
    freezing and resets.

My problem with Music Player is that I seem to have to create the
playlists on the PC and download the playlist. I use a third party
cable. I would just like to be able to put the MMC in a card reader and
copy MP3s across but it seems I have to build playlists separately and
copy the playlist across and allow it drag the individual tracks. Why
Nokia didn't implement a simple hierarchical file strustture for music
    is beyond me.

One-touch access software sounds good. Do you have a URL? I'm on
Vodafone so maybe my connection is different.

Thanks for your help. I'll leave other issues till I've got on top of
immediate problms. One step at a time.

    Regards, jrisch

note: you will need to install pc suite 6.4 or later to use one touch
    access
