Ooops misread post, but I will add poor blue tooth, no global cut, copy and
paste and has the worst contact book handling I have ever used. The later
may just be a Nokia thing.

Err, except for the run rate on MS smart phones appears to be beating them
both.

True, but it depends on how you define "beat". For versatility PalmOS still
has the edge, but in terms of availability, MS handsets far outweigh
anything else (and the trend doesn't look likely to change). It seems
strange that there have been so few Palm based handsets, and those that have
been available haven't been the most attractive phones in the world.

Hold down the little pen button and select text, this is "global copy
and paste"

Does Palm do multitasking yet? Havn't used it since version 4.

Trouble is quantity does not mean quality.
If Nokia / SE and Motorola were not part of the developer team for Symbian I
wonder if any of them would even look at it as an OS. Remember Psion walked
away from it.
There is no cut down to the Palm OS Treos they are small PDAs. Though the
new OS in the 650 is not going to be as user friendly as the OS in the 600
because of interference by the mobile companies to be able to lock them down
to their company (software is going to have to be signed).
MS Smartphone is a watered down version of their PDA software.
Anyone who used to used Psion machines and expects Symbian to be as useful,
is in for a major disappointment, (as I was)all it is, is a little bit
smarter than a normal phone helped mainly by having a memory card for data
and programs. Many of the programs are machine dependant and many of the
developers are not very helpful and there are too few of them.
To the OP IMHO Nokia will not bring out a Palm OS phone because they are the
major stock holder of Sybian and have the software too a point they deem a
suitable OS for their users. They are out to sell phones not a replacement
for a phone/PDA that a smartphone IMO should be.
