Nokia 2280 sim socket unlocking HELP

Help me!
i need help on how to unlock the sim card socket on a nokia 2280
my network (telecom) disable the sockets so sims dont work, howqever
vodafone nz dont unlock them!

i want to use my vodafone sim card in the nokia 2280.
vodafone sales staff say it is a telecom fone and only works on telecom
SO WHY DOES IT HAVE A SIM SOCKET!!!???
i assume it is provider locked?
please help!

The Nokia 2280 is a CDMA phone.The socket is a R-UIM and is not a GSM SIM
socket.
