Hi, grateful for any ideas on this.
For years I have used a mobile phone (7110) to access the internet
when attached to a mobile computer in remote locations.
I have now upgraded the (Nokia) phone and the new laptop has windows
XP Pro. I have successfully installed the cable drivers and Nokia
PCsuite (which uses a DKU-5 data cable in a USB port numbered COM4, 5
or 6) but the whole thing falls apart when I try and add a new modem.
This is what happens:
Control panel: phones & modems: add: install from list: correctly
identify type (nokia) and model (6100), next: modem listed as Nokia
6100 cable, 'all ports' greyed out and the box under 'selected port'
is completely empty and so 'next' is greyed out and I can't proceed
further!
So, why are no ports listed? Nokia say everything must be ok with
their software to have got that far (and I can use PCsuite fine for
sending stuff to and from phone) and that it must be the PC.
Any ideas?
TIA
Chris D
