Hi,
I foolishly strayed from the Nokia fold last time, to a Sony Ericson.
I plan to return to Nokia imminently, then smash the Sony into a
million pieces, grrrr.
Anyway,
My bro has a N70 which looked quite good, but playing with it last
nite, unlike what you get chance to in the shop before the demo battery
goes flat, I discovered a few things the Sony has that I would like to
have on a Nokia, but the N70 didn't seem to have them.
One really useful one is a recurrent alarm, that I can set to any of
the 7 days of the week (I use my fone to get up for work) plus an
additional 'use once only' alarm I can set on demand.
The N70 only seemed to only have the use once (then reset for next use)
option.
What Nokias have the 2 alarms?
Also, the notes and/or tasks on the N70 could not have reminder alarms
attached. Only calender events it seems can have reminder alarms. Is
this so?
The Sony has alarmable calender events AND a tasks list with reminders,
which I use all the time.
On the N70, it seemed like the picture format was progressive jpegs,
they certainly wouldn't show on the Sony when bluetoothed over.
Is this the case?
Can they be set to normal jpeg encoding? (I couldn't find a setting)
Damn, I knew I shoulda wrote a list, the other things I forgot. I'll
have to think some more..
Anyway, any advice on decent new Nokias that address the above for me?
thanks

Re: which Nokia to get these days?
The Nokia N70 appears to be a very good phone. Being a Series 60 phone
there are a large number of third party Symbian software available to
personalise your phone to what you require.
Have a look at http://www.handango.com/ to see what is available.
I would be surprised if there is not a Symbian application available for
anything that you would like to do with your phone as there are so many
available.

This is one of the things that I really miss on my old T630 - and
really irritates me that an "advanced" phone such as the N70 and no
such thing as a periodic alarm?

You do this with the calendar app.
Create a daily "Meeting" with associated alarm

Re: which Nokia to get these days?
Hello!
Nokia Series 80 SE phones ( 9300, 9300i, 9500 ) support recurrent alarms
management. Also you can set recurring sound reminders using 'Calendar'
section both in Nokia N70 and Nokia 9300i/9500.
We can suggest to have a look at Oxygen Phone Manager II for Symbian OS
phones ( http://www.opm-2.com/symbian/ ). Using our software you can manage
your phone's calendar and To-Do from your PC. We support DKU-2 or CA-53
cable connection, Bluetooth connection or IRDA connection (series 80 models
only) for these phones.
If you have any further questions, do not hesitate to contact us (
http://www.opm-2.com/forum/ ).
