Is anyone out there besides myself having to re-install this software 2-3
times a month because your computer cannot find the phone ?
I have Windows XP and I swear this program has a mind of its own. It will
work find for a few times then suddenly the PC can't find the phone or you
go into manage connectivity area and the choices of connections will be
greyed out.
Very frustrating. I think it may have something to do with Windows updates
because I noticed problems after the updates are installed.

Are you using USB? You might need to make sure that you connect to the
same PC USB port each time.
I've been using Nokia PC Suite for about a month. It connects flawlessly
to two 6126 via Bluetooth, occasionally at the same time, sometimes when I
don't expect it.
It is such a joy compared to Motorola Phone Tools that I was shocked to see
your post ;-)
I applied a whole pile of WinXP updates a few days ago, megs and megs, all
the optional updates, and not a hiccup. I just fired PC Suite up now. It
connected to my phone, and also connected to my wife's phone, on the other
side of the room.
I sync contacts for my phone with my email, and sync contacts for my wife
to a separate copy of contacts.wab, an Outlook Express format that I don't
use except for her phone sync.

It seems to be that if you have used older versions on Nokia PC Suite
and upgraded to this new version thats what causes the preoblems
I have used umpteen older versions with no problems but after loading
the latest version i have the same problems as you
It is welll documented on nokia help groups and various others like my
symbian etc

My PCSuite is 6.83.14.1.
> connected to my phone, and also connected to my wife's phone, on the other
A little while after I made that post, I was getting a popup that my wife's
phone was connected, and a new "Nokia Windows Portable Device Driver" was
being installed, over and over and over... A Nokia search showed three
solutions, run some DisableWPD.reg to disable Windows Portable Device
driver installation, enable the device in device manager, or run DPInst.exe
from the PCSuite directory, which might not have run on an upgrade.
The Device manager trick was a little hard to get, because the window would
refresh every couple of seconds. I positioned the mouse over the right
spot, and click next time I saw it appear ;-)
This only happened on my wife's phone, which is at default settings, and
didn't happen on my phone, where I changed the USB interface for Data
Storage before I installed PCSuite. I don't know if that affects PCSuite
or not.
