That really depends on your carrier, as much as the phone. Some carriers,
like mine, sell tethered internet service quite cheaply. I pay Alltel $25
for unlimited EVDO data service on CDMA in South Carolina USA. I can
either tether with a USB cable or, as I usually do, over Bluetooth DUN to
my Nokia N800 internet tablet. Speed is from 700 to 1200 kbps, depending
on Alltel's system load. I'm listening to a stereo radio stream on the
tablet as I type this from my Sellphone. It doesn't use much bandwidth.
Other carriers, however, notably Verizon Wireless, disable the tethering
and only let the phones support Bluetooth headsets and handsfree. They
want you to buy a more-profitable aircard for $60/mo for 5GB, which sucks.
Try to pair with your 6233 from your BT computer. Put the phone in
discovery mode so the computer can see it and pair with it to see what it
supports. If it supports DUN, contact your carrier to see about buying
tethered service. FOR GOD SAKE DON'T USE IT IN PER MINUTE MODE! You can
buy your own COUNTRY and that's cheaper!
Their webpage should tell you what they'll let you do.....which on some
isn't much.

I was surprised at the Verizon 5GB limit on a WAN card. The $60 per month
is okay, for a friend where cable is down more than up, but I'm really not
sure if she needs more than 5GB per month. Cingular only has EGPRS in her
area, no 3G, and I can't figure out what kind of offer T-Mobile has.

Cingular is a "cheap" $0.01 per KByte. Oh, that's $10.00 per MB!!
Possibly more than the monthly unlimited charge for one web surfing
session.
My bill was $107 for three days when they dropped unlimited from my
account. Fortunately, it was easy to track down when it happened, although
there was no explanation for why it happened in my account notes, so it was
credited, and the unlimited reinstated.

If she gets it, tell her to make SURE she checks how close she is to the
limit OFTEN. To go over is VERY expensive at 50c/MB with a real computer.
Hell, a webpage soaked with spam, some even Verizon spam, could cost
$5/page!
I advise everyone to "Just Say NO to data by the byte".....
If noone bought it, it wouldn't be there long. If it created mass
churning, it wouldn't be there for an hour!
VZW is testing to see if they can get away with it....same old ****.
