Not a Nokia, but I cannot think of a more appropriate ng.

I picked one of these phones up (Jinpeng A5608) very cheaply at car
boot sale, but the included manual is in Chinese - so I'm looking for
an English manual, if anyone might know where I could download one
    please?

It also lacks its memory card and I am not familiar with modern cards.
The card socket seems to be a similar size to that of a sim. Could
anyone suggest from that the type of memory needed?

It sounds like a microSD card. Best thing would be for you to take it to
a mobile store and confirm before buying one. As for the manual, well,
    no idea.

But as an interface on a computer when I want to get some work done,
this animated stuff is like a chocolate coating on the handle of a
    screwdriver.

MicroSD (aka TF) it is. Someone pointed me towards
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MicroSD

The measurements there confirmed it- thanks.
