I'm still running PC suite (7.1.151.0) for my N95 and remember last year or
    even earlier this
year, that a lot of people had problems updating to Ovi. It got a very bad
    write up on here,
so I avoided it like the plague!

I see that version 2.2 of Ovi is available and wonder how people have got on
    with that version?

    Any comments please?

Ovi Suite has been slowly getting better, and is just about at the
point where it's beginning to become usable.

By the way, Nokia Ovi Suite 3.0 Beta has just been released, but it
would be a brave person who installed that on a system he intends to
    use for any serious work.

Just changed over to Ovi in order to get various maps. Also upgraded the
    Nav software.

Seems to have gone well despite some worrying (but correct) messages about
uninstalling old versions and maps before installing the new ones.

I run Windows 7 64bit. The only thing that is a problem is everything
Nokia. Loses connection all the time, bricked one N86, screws up my
contacts and tasks. Contract is up next month and guess what I won't be
    getting?

So not a ringing endorsement for Ovi then! Interesting to hear that..

Since you have an old phone, you're better off sticking with PC Suite.
Ovi Suite is large, slow, bloated and monolithic. PC Suite is modular -
separate programs for each function that can be launched independent of
the main window. For eg, doubleclick on a .SIS file in Windows explorer
while your phone's connected, and you instantly get a prompt asking to
    install to the phone.
With Ovi Suite, you wait ages while the whole app loads and initializes
    before it prompts you.
Ovi Suite also doesn't support Lotus Notes (if you're using it) for
    contact/calendar sync, PC Suite does.

You might need Ovi Suite if you want the latest Ovi Maps (don't know if
it's supported on N95, and anyway you don't get the free map navigation
    that newer handsets have)
