I had my 6610's firmware upgraded from 3.09 to 4.74 by an official
Nokia center. The upgrade seemed to go well, but later that day I
discovered that I had only 1 k of Gallery/Java memory left.

This has already happened to others before
    (http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=f...erasing+folder).

I went back to the center to have my memory "restored", but the guy
could not do anything with my phone. The program he used (Phoenix)
would give an error when he tried to reflash the firmware. He proposed
to have my phone sent back to Nokia for repair, which I declined.

After some searching, I found that the firmware upgrade process had
left some files from the previous firmware configuration, that took
memory, but were not reachable, and even less deletable through the
usual tools (Nokia PC Suite 5.1, MobiMB, nor OPM2).

I found this by using a nice (and free) piece of software called Gammu
    (http://www.mwiacek.com/english/gsm/gammu/gammu.html)
that has the ability to display the entire contents of the phone's
file system. The unreachable files from the previous firmware were in
a directory named "Gallerie" (I have french as my phone language),
while the reachable files from the new firmware were in a directory
    named "Gallery".

With the help of Gammu, I could delete all the "hidden" files, as well
as the "Gallerie" directory and reclaim the memory that apparently got
    lost.
