    Hi:

For all you Nokia gurus out there - I would like to know your
recommendations. I'm looking for a GSM 850/1900 phone (so I can take
advantavge of the 850 network Rogers AT&T will have here on Canada's West
    coast in October)

Currently, I'm looking for a low-end phone. 8390 is out - only supports
GSM 1900. I'm looking at 6590i. I don't need any fancy color screen,
flashlights or whatever - I want a good-quality phone which I can use just
for talking. I don't even play games.

Had an old Nokia 6185i once on CDMA network - and it worked GREAT. Hence,
I want to stick to Nokia. Any suggestion for a low-end GSM850/1900 phone?
is the 6590i good enough? are there any other recommendations?

You picked the right phone. I got one in June and I have no regrets. It is
small, it gets good reception, it sounds nice, and it has a radio feature
you can use with a headset, which is a nice bonus. It also has rock-solid
IrDA and I use it as a wireless modem with my PDA when I am outside the
city. I tried to figure out Nokia Sugar Bowl once but I need some
instructions, but you're right, the games are fluff. If I want to play
games I do so on my PDA.
