Try *#72902689# - that works for most Nokias I've come across, but I've
never used a 7650. Worth a try though.

Note that you will need to switch the phone off and on again to get out of
the menu you will see when you enter this code.

    Hope this helps,

    Ivor

I've already tried the *#war0anty# code, no luck.

    Hi Ivor,

Works. Do you know a method to reset the "purchase date" ? Have you any more
codes ? Could you post them here ?

Both your mistyped code and the correct one give me a "no service"
message after spending about 4 minutes going REQUESTING.

(bear in mind, that right now my phone has no service. I have my
American SIM still in the phone and haven't gotten a Chinese SIM yet
because I am hoping to be able to get the, as yet unreused, number that
    my stolen phone had.)

You are typing it without the star key.
Just the hash key to start with will force the phone to attempt to connect
    to the network.

I now have a local SIM in my phone.

I AM typing it with the star key.

Unlike other codes that I have entered in my phone, nothing happens
after I press the last hash. So, I tried pressing the green dial button.

You cannot use the *#92702689# code with a 7650 or any other Symbian Series
60 device. Ask a Nokia Service Centre very nicely
