    Hi all,

Can anyone recommend a course of action for a Nokia 8210 that was submerged
in water for about 5 to 8 seconds.

The phone aint happy anymore - what should I do - someone mentioned soaking
it in metho ?? Anyone had any luck with that one ?

Thanks in advance for any sensible suggestions.

    Regards

    Mark

    first thing, TAKE BATTERY OUT.

then try to use a hairdryer to dry it off as much as possible...the PCB can
    be cleaned with meths

    1) It will have problems replace it with a new one.
    2) don't soak it in anything else
    3) take the case off, battery out, and take it appart as much as you have
skill to put it back together, dry with hair dryer set to cool or with
canned air, clean with dry clean cloth

Thankyou - sounds safer to replace.

I have dried it all out but it seems very unreliable - works now and then,
some keys work now and then, sometimes it will charge and sometimes it
    won't.

Yeap....keep drying it off....some parts might stll have a little bit of
    water

About the keypad: cover the screen with a few layers of soft cloth
(IMPORTANT) and use the hairdryer on HOT for five to ten minutes on the
    keypad

Re: submerged phone - what to do ?

I had same issue with an older Nokia phone many years ago. I dropped it in a
rock pool whilst on holiday. It was submerged for about 4 - 5 seconds. The
phone graduallly came back to life as it dried out properly with some keys
etc being intermittent. It took about 2 days to start working again and
about 3 weeks for it to dry out properly and come back to full life.
