Just used the DT4 software to get the 'codes' - no problem and double checked my IMEI and
everything else. Removed the sim (so when I switch on the phone now it says "insert Sim")
- key in the string including the "#" character to start and finish the string....and
then....nothing happens!! - not even an error message. Any insights?

I have no solution but I have seen this before, on one 8310 and one 6510,
unlocked them with box instead.

I did - as per the recommendation. When I keyed in the final '#' nothing happened.

- just an afterthought: I did take extra care to do this without error and triple
checked all parameters. But in any case, if i'd made an error producing and incorrect set
of unlock codes, wouln't this have produced an 'error' result on keying in? As I say,
there was no response at all, neither success nor failure.
Phonelocker.co.uk offer an update/unlock service for not too much dosh - maybe it would
be worth doing that since my firmware is pretty old (4.xx)? Any other recommendations?

Re: problem unlocking an 8310
Two.
JIC Unlocker, just need a Rolis cable or F/M and Test Mode hack
or
Try Code 1 with a V1 code/ V2 - appologises if what you've done already, but
late and only scanned msg.

I just did google-group search for "8310 unlock" so not sure about others
This site http://unlockme.co.uk/unlockme.html seems to be pretty genned-up but don't know
if it's exclusively nokia.

If you can't get the phone to unlock using generated codes, you'll have to
unlock it using one of the numerous cable methods around. As your firmware
is fairly old, it may be a good idea to update the firmware, but this is
your decision - it will have no bearing on being able to unlock the phone.
You could try the old Jic unlocker, but you'll need to put the phone into
test mode first, and to be honest, I always found the Jic unlocker a bit hit
or miss.

About £10ish for a dual F/M bus cable, plus you'll have to get hold of the
unlocking software.
