My son is on his way back from holiday and replied to a text saying that his
screen is broken and can't see the messages. As yet I haven't seen it so
don't know exactly what the problem is.

Does the 6100 have a replacement screen on its covers? It may be more than
that and actually be the LCD screen. If so can anyone give me any info on
getting it fixed? Is it easy to obtain a replacement LCD screen and if so
where? More importantly is it easy to fix? The phone is still under warranty
but I presume not for accidental damage.

    Thanks

    Janice

If it is only the screen of the cover, check out this link :

He's a stand-up guy and his covers are good quality and cheap.

Unfortunately it's the LCD screen - it's like a rainbow of colours across
about a third of it. Apparently his "friends" were mucking about and he
and/or his camp bed landed on it. They will be paying for it.

It was only bought from the CPW in March and therefore under warranty. I
will take it to their repair centre ( also a Nokia centre ) tomorrow. As
their is no obvious damage - like a crack or dent - will they realise that
    it's been hit?

Maybe, but don't be fooled into thinking they are genuine, not in that
    packaging.

Lol yes the covers on ebay are genuine snide as we say round here not worth
it , why spend a lot of money on your phone and put one of those cheap shi*
    covers on .

As for the lcd , cpw will probably be expensive for the screen you will find
one here http://www.irwebonline.com/ for £35.24 inc vat , it is listed as a
7210 screen but will fit the 6100 ok

Thanks for the info. I'm sure the CPW will be dearer but then I don't want
to take the chance of further damaging a 6 month old phone when I don't
really know how to take it apart and refit it. The 5 friends who damaged it
will just have to pay up.

Them Nokia fascia's are fake, or imports from Asia, the Genuine Nokia 6100
covers dont come with backs, and the packs come with two different fascia's.

Selling at £24.99 most places, if your son needs an LCD let us know, we
offer a fitting service and can also sell the screw driver needed if you
would like to fit it yourself.

Nokia will not warranty the LCD as its been hit, so will be imploded as its
been hit inwards, not outwards... so it will not be covered.

Who said they are real ? Not me ! I know they are most probably fake,
however they still look good for fakes. And they only cost BP 5,95. That's
1/4 of the price of a real nokia fascia. It's a good alternative. Just my

Just keep in mind that the plastic they use is not as strong as the
Nokia's. Meaning your phone's hardware can be damaged with less impact.

Thanks for the advice. I knew it wouldn't be covered by the warranty - I
just didn't want to void the rest of my warranty by attempting a repair
myself. It's only 6 months old. How much is your repair cost for an LCD
    screen?

Thanks. I had a look although the 6100 isn't listed - is it the same as one
    that is listed?

Yes I thought so too - might think twice before mucking around again. CPW
are quoting £75 and the girl in the repair centre said she would try to get
the cracked front cover replaced in that repair price. Otherwise it's
another £24.99 for replacement covers. Why on earth do they sell them in
    pairs of front covers?

Sorry about that, for some reason I'd read your post as a 6610. As soon as
I get chance, I'll have to sort out a 6100 dismantle.
