Nokia 2260 : Increasing earpiece volume!

The earpiece volume on my nokia is terribly low - I can hear nothing of
what's being said on the other end! I can't figure out how to increase the
earpiece volume (manual is not helpful)..please help!

Seems that if during a call on a 2260, you press the 'up' key, it increases
the volume.
