Nokia Bluetooth car handsfree + Ericsson phone = echos

hi,

I just put in a CARK-112 to pair up with my SE T610. It works great, except
for a bad echo problem on the other party's phone - they hear themselves
pretty loudly. Is this normal? Or is it a nokia-SE problem?

It's having the speaker too close to the microphone, or the speaker turned
up too loud. Happens to mine when the speaker volume is turned up loud and
there's no road noise.

Solution: move speaker or lower volume.

Common problem with car kits, , you mic is in too close a range of your
speaker, , when the other guy speaks,, ,his voice comes out of your speaker
too loud and your mic picks it up and he hears himself again

hide the speaker on the passenger side, , or turn down the volume a bit

aim the mic towards the window ( assuming it is high up on the "a" pillar )

I have seen this about 100 times, , , , , this is a common problem

Doesn't quality car kits have echo cancelling facilities?

That's what I thought... that echo cancelling was standard on good
car kits.

Maybe it only echo-cancels with Nokia phones...

I mounted the mic above the rearview mirror with the speaker near my
foot. I was thinking, regardless of where i put it, if I can hear the
speaker, wouldn't the mic be able to pick it up?

I could try mounting the speaker on the passenger side and the mic at
the top of the a-pillar on the driver side, but I'd rather get some
confirmation that it makes a difference (maybe it's just a bad car kit)
before ripping everything out.


It happens at minimum volume too.

It happens at minimum volume too.
Right now the speaker is mounted near the driver's foot, and the mic is
above the rearview mirror. Will mounting the speaker on the passenger side
and the mic at the top of the driver-side a-pillar make a difference?

I was thinking, maybe the echo cancel feature only works with Nokia phones,
or something silly like that.

Didn't help, the echo is still there.
Looks like i'll have to go back to Nokia... after just
switching to ericsson. urgh.. too bad no one has the
HCB-30 here yet.

Interesting, then what's that sitting in my car at the moment?

Most places should have it for under $400 now as well.
