In the period of time since I posted this on August 25th the keypad
briefly stopped working once again in early September. Making the alarm
clock go off fixed the problem that time.

Now the two important buttons have been refusing to do anything AGAIN
this time for about 7 hours already. I have pulled the battery. I have
turned the phone on and off. I have made alarms go off. And nothing at
all is making it work.

help me...

I don't think it is dust. There does not seem to be anything
interfering between the number doohickey and the flat spots under the
snap cover. But the flat spots aren't responding. And then the phone
will do something like ring an alarm and it will go back to working.
