I'm just going by the info posted here by "Webmaster" a few weeks ago:

::The lock status depends on the originating network, not the model.

    ::Also, there are only 4 locks. Codes 1, 2, 3, and 4 do locks 1, 2, 3 and
    4
::respectively. Code 5 does locks 1 and 2 simultaneously, code 6 does 1,
    2,
::and 3, and code 7 does all 4 locks in one go.

::For UK phones, Orange close locks 1 and 2 so use code 5, T-Mobile only
    use
::lock 1, O2 only use lock 1 and Vodafone Live! uses lock 1 and 2 so use
    code
    :5.

Going by this, code 5 should be used for Orange. There is no network (in
the UK anyway) that locks all 4 locks, so code 7 is not necessary. I have
heard of cases where trying to open a lock that is already open has caused
problems, so personally, I wouldn't try..! Code 5 unlocked my Orange
    6310i first go, anyway.

The last 9 fones i unlocked on orange all opened 1st time successfully with
    code 7
    ( 6310i's, 3300 a 7650 and a 3650)
also 2 from t-mobile, all unlocked using code 7, so i tend to only use that
    1 and haven't had any prob's..
Oh was gonna unlock 2 x 6600's and a 6310i on O2 but already open to all
networksas seems to be the norm with O2
