On most of the current "white brick" Nokia LiIon batteries, including
the aftermarket knock-offs, there is a small white sticker bearing a
horizontal red line next to the row of gold contacts.

If you peel the sticker back, you see it is sitting in a depressed well
which has two tiny holes at the bottom. Beneath each hole is a tiny gold
    contact.

What is all this stuff for?
